At Gavin Duffy & Associates, we are proud supporters of BizWorld Ireland, a not for profit organisation empowering and encouraging 4th & 5th class children to tap into their entrepreneurial potential and develop their business skills.

As Chairman of the BizWorld Ireland Foundation, Gavin Duffy, is thrilled to support the initiative and offer his skills, expert advice and encouragement to Bizworld participants all across Ireland in a bid to develop their entrepreneurial and business skills.

The BizWorld Foundation was initially founded in America in the late nineties before being established in Ireland in 2011 when a group of educators began offering business workshops to students in classrooms across the country. Fast forward to 2017 and BizWorld Ireland has grown in size and popularity as hundreds of schools have signed up to take part.

Set over two days, BizWorld workshops are delivered in the classroom by specially trained BizWorld Ireland tutors. Pupils are divided into groups of five and are taught the basics of entrepreneurship, business and finance before being set the task of developing their own mini enterprise to understand how a real business operates. During the two day workshop pupils also learn about company formation, market research, production and development. At the end of the two days each group has the opportunity to pitch their idea, in true Dragons’ Den style, to a local business person for ‘Biz Bucks’ to invest into their company. The best business idea from each class is then automatically entered into the annual Biz Factor competition.

As an entrepreneur and Dragons’ Den investor, Gavin thinks the initiative is wonderful for pupils.

“It’s fantastic to see how enthusiastic and involved the children are with their business ideas – they really want to make them a success! The skills that the children are learning have never been taught in a classroom setting before, making it really exciting and new for each pupil.  Teachers have told me how delighted they are to see so many of their students gain confidence and truly blossom during the programme, especially the pupils who are usually quite reserved in class. The whole initiative achieves really remarkable results and I’m so delighted to be involved”
